Xbox Console Exclusive The Medium is coming to PS5 in September

Bloober Team’s psychological horror game The Medium will arrive on PS5 on September 3 with full support for DualSense, Sony has confirmed. It’s unclear if the game will launch on PS4 as well, which may be unlikely as it hasn’t arrived on Xbox One with PC and Series X | S either.

The PlayStation maker revealed the news in a new trailer on YouTube. The 1.5-minute video is made up entirely of cutscenes from the game, with a few quotes from interspersed. The trailer claims The Medium is “more immersive than ever” thanks to DualSense, but Sony didn’t say how the game takes advantage of the controller functionality.

The Medium was a huge hit for Polish studio Bloober Team, breaking into profit within days of launch and carving out a spot in Steam’s top-selling games in January 2021.

Developed by the team behind Blair Witch and the Layers of Fear franchise, The Medium launched on Xbox Series X | S and PC earlier this year. We gave the game a 9/10 in our The Medium review, praising the game’s use of subtext and how its themes blend into its gameplay.

“The conclusion of the medium is close to your heart; it’s a final horrific reminder that trauma may not define a person, but it can have consequences we can’t even begin to foresee if it isn’t dealt with adequately and escalates. over time, ”associate editor Jordan Ramée wrote in his review. “I can’t say I enjoyed The Medium’s ending, but I’m deeply pleased with how it sets up the unmistakable nature of its horrific conclusion.”
