The new Xbox console would be released next year

A new report has emerged indicating that Microsoft may be looking to release a brand new Xbox console at some point in the coming year. While this supposed model isn’t entirely new from top to bottom, it would rather look to update the Xbox Series S, which is currently the cheapest console Microsoft offers to customers. Despite the platform’s lower power compared to the Xbox Series X, it looks like this new iteration may end up strengthening the internals a bit more.

Word about this new version of the Xbox Series S comes from a recent video on Moore’s Law Is Dead YouTube channel. The video in question indicates that Microsoft is currently in the early stages of planning to “refresh” both the Xbox Series X and the Xbox Series S. However, the S Series is the console Microsoft is currently focusing on and it could. start releasing a new model of the platform at the end of 2022.

So what would that look like? Well, essentially this new Xbox Series S console would have slight hardware upgrades from the version currently available. As such, the report states that Microsoft is reportedly looking to sell this new Xbox Series S for a price close to $ 350. In turn, however, the current Xbox Series S would then potentially see its price drop to somewhere in the $ 200 or $ 250 realm. Basically, Microsoft wants to give customers even more options than ever before to integrate into the Xbox ecosystem. These variable prices on multiple consoles would allow them to do so.

Overall, this report should be taken with the typical two cents until we learn more directly from Xbox. Still, what’s mentioned here isn’t at all surprising given that mid-gen console upgrades are pretty standard these days. It seems like it’s only a matter of time before the new Xbox consoles go public, but it remains to be seen when that release actually happens.

So what do you think of this idea? Does it make sense that Microsoft is starting to look to update the Xbox Series X and S in the coming year? Share your thoughts with me in the comments or message me on Twitter at @ Mooreman12.
