Rainbow Six Mobile wants to besiege the app stores

Ubisoft pushes Rainbow Six Siege into miniaturization machine to bring us Rainbow Six Mobile on iOS and Android devices.

Don’t worry, this isn’t a Rainbox Six version of Wordle or a match-3 game where all the icons are lethal weapons. True to its roots, the game will focus on five vs. five PvP matches based on a mode called Attack vs. Defense.

“Attackers will deploy observation drones to gain intel and strategically penetrate through destructible walls, floors and ceilings, while defenders will barricade all entry points and use spy cameras or booby traps to secure their location,” Ubisoft explained as part of the announcement.

“Blending strategy and teamwork, players will experience the thrill of intense close combat as they alternate between attack and defense to win it all.”

Game operators will include familiar faces from the Rainbow Six Siege universe, and locations, like Bank and Border, will be familiar to anyone who has spent time on Rainbox Six Siege maps.

Work on the game is led by a dedicated team at Ubisoft Montreal, home to major Ubisoft hit series like Splinter Cell, Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry. If Rainbow Six Siege doesn’t seem like an obvious candidate for a mobile spin-off compared to a few of these other titles, Ubisoft recently revealed that as of December 2020, the game has 70 million registered players.

As for the release date, there’s no need to go to your local app store right now, but you can head over to the game’s official website and volunteer for the development testing stages.
