Popular Xbox Games — September 26, 2022

Our latest Xbox gameplay chart of popular Xbox games sees Deathloop enter the top ten after joining Xbox Game Pass, with new additions and respawns further down.

The top ten refuses, as usual, to budge, until we get to eighth place where Deathloop makes its first appearance. Having been a PS5 console exclusive, Deathloop joined Xbox Game Pass last week, and it looks like a wave of gamers have picked it up. Interestingly, the most popular response in our poll asking if Deathloop was worth the wait is currently “undecided” – what do you think after checking out the game? Rocket League clings to ninth place, while Fall Guys fell two spots to tenth place. The next big change is Cyberpunk 2077, which jumped six spots to 16th place. Cyberpunk 2077 has seen a huge increase in daily player counts, so it will be interesting to see how that fares in next week’s chart. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Overwatch changed places to 18th and 19th place respectively, while Disney Dreamlight Valley fell five places to 20th place. The Early Access version of the life sim – which will launch in full as a free game in 2023 – is available with Xbox Game Pass, and free Toy Story and Lion King-themed updates are on the way , so it’s ‘It will be interesting to see if other players then return to the game.

MultiVersus, meanwhile, fell six spots to 27th, although frequent additions of new playable characters could see it move up the rankings in the future. We then have three new consecutive appearances, with Hollow Knight: Voidheart Edition, Escape Academy and Hardspace: Shipbreaker at 29th, 30th and 31st respectively. Hollow Knight: Voidheart Edition and Escape Academy – the latter appearing only narrowly in the top 40 of our leaderboard at launch, and which is also included in our list of the easiest and fastest completions in the Xbox Game Pass library – were both included with the latest Xbox Game Pass quests, while Hardspace: Shipbreaker was also a recent addition to Xbox Game Pass. Metal: Hellsinger fell 16 places to 33rd, while just below Assassin’s Creed Valhalla dropped four places to 34th. An upcoming Assassin’s Creed Valhalla update adds a new achievement, so we might see more players returning to the game at that time. Just below, FIFA 23 appeared in the rankings at 35th place, despite not actually launching until September 30. It’s not entirely clear how FIFA 23 has already managed to squeeze into the board – pre-ordering an add-on gets you three days early access, but the board was created before that early access started . Further down, we see Portal 2 making its first appearance, and this is more easily explained; the game recently became available to claim as part of September’s remaining Xbox games with Gold games. Rounding out the picture, Smite is in 40th place, while this week’s disappearances are PowerWash Simulator, Warframe, Fallout 76, Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition, Immortals Fenyx Rising, As Dusk Falls, and You Suck at Parking.
