Today, Thunderful Publishing and independent developer Wishly Studios have released a new trailer for the highly anticipated cinematic puzzle adventure Lana’s planet. This stunning, unique footage highlights the visual and gameplay contrasts in the game’s breathtaking hand-painted world.
Lana’s planet The first trailer introduced us to a scenic platform and stealthy gameplay through a lush world of green fields, rich forests, and sparkling blue water. The new trailer gives us a thrilling glimpse into another section of the game, featuring a frantic chase streak through an epic desert environment. This trailer also reveals other variations of the mysterious machines that crashed into Lana’s peaceful world. The smaller spider-like droids first seen on the original reveal interact with larger flying automata while towering, monolithic walkers threaten to crush our heroes as they make their way to a mysterious destination …
During the game’s appearance at the Game Awards yesterday, it was also revealed that Lana’s planet will be composed by multiple award-winning and BAFTA-nominated composer Takeshi Furukawa. Thunderful and Wishfullly Studios are thrilled to have Takeshi, known for his work on The Last Guardian, the Star Wars franchise, and Star Trek: Enterprise, putting his incredible talent at the service of the composition of the soundtrack of the game.
âI am always drawn to projects with a strong visual identity in combination with touching stories and universal themes,â said Takeshi Furukawa, composer of Lana’s planet. “But beyond the opportunity to give emotional weight to this beautiful world, what intrigued me even more was the essential role that music plays in the history of the game.”
Set on an alien world, Lana’s planet tells the story of Lana and her loyal animal companion, Mui, as they embark on a rescue mission to save her sister. This touching story is experienced through the lens of a side-scrolling cinematic game format, as players explore a colorful world full of stunning environments, strange creatures, and dangerous machines. From a gameplay perspective, Lana’s planet is an adventure filled with daring platforms, engaging puzzles, tense stealth sequences, and an accompanying mechanic that connects Lana and Mui, enabling unique gameplay and story moments using their abilities in tandem.
This out-of-the-world odyssey is tied to a very unique visual style that combines hand-drawn illustrations, intricate parallax overlay, and a subtle use of 3D graphics to give the appearance of an interactive painting. On high-end PC and Xbox Series X, Lana’s planet will run at a native resolution of 4K (2160p) at 60 frames per second, bringing his incredible illustrations to life. More details on Lana’s planet Gameplay, story, and performance profiles for other devices in the Xbox family of consoles will be shared at a later date.
Lana’s planet Stunning hand-painted visuals, an unforgettable story and an epic soundtrack will arrive exclusively on Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam® and the Windows 10 Store in late 2022.
