Madden is the hit saga of American football video games from Electronic Arts. The latest installment in the franchise is Madden NFL 22, available since August.
These games offer many options to players. Along with basic content, it also allows users to share their own custom lists through the Community File option.
The aforementioned lists can be downloaded by other players. But, it seems that this feature is not working properly for many (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8).
Madden NFL 22 Community File error on PS4 and PS5
According to multiple reports, Madden 22 players on PS4 and PS5 are facing numerous issues when trying to download community files. All they get is an error related to the internet connection (servers not responding).
So I just went mad 22 and am trying to download one of the all rookie team rosters to start my franchise but every time I go to download the roster Madden won’t let me get to the screen community files saying internet connection lost or it lets me in but gives me the error occurred while downloading the file screen and i tried restarting my internet several times
Note that the connection error only affects this particular section (community files). Madden NFL 22’s other game modes are working properly.
I just got Madden 22 because I just got a PS5. I play franchise mode and hate the auto-generated recruit class. I always play with the real downloaded draft classes. When I go to upload the class project it says I cannot connect to the server to contact EA help – unable to connect. I can play all other game modes so I don’t understand where the problem is, I can’t access community files to download draft class 2023.
EA is aware, issue under investigation
Fortunately, EA is already aware of the bug that Madden NFL 22 players are suffering from. At this time, the matter is being investigated, but there is still no ETA for a fix.

3:35 p.m. (IST): One of the community managers asked those affected to share the following details to share with the affected team:

What error are you getting
When was the last time you tried to download a file? (Date + Time)
Your help is greatly appreciated. We will forward this to the team for investigation as soon as possible.
Additionally, they also shared a potential workaround. Here is what they say:
It’s not guaranteed, but I’ve seen some success with others on Xbox who have tried it. You will lose local and online saves if you choose to delete both (you will not lose MUT progress, which is saved on our servers).
Clear saved game data:
Open the Settings menu at the top of the Dash.
Select Storage, then select System Storage.
Select Saved Data.
Choose a game to access saved game data.
Press the Options button and select Delete.
Update 2 (January 5)
3:54 p.m. (IST): In response to the community manager’s request for information, some noted (1, 2) that they are not even able to access the community files page, let alone not able to upload a particular file type/author.
EA has yet to provide any additional information on when we can expect a fix for the issue.
Update 3 (January 6)
4:43 p.m. (IST): An EA Community Manager shared a summary of the ongoing investigations and the ongoing issue in an effort to provide more clarity on the issue:
– The Madden team are aware of this and are investigating
– This has been a problem in the past. Some players can access the Madden Share section by trying several times, but it may not be 100% reliable.
– Some players may enter after deleting saved game data (offline progress will be lost)
– Some players were able to access the section via a mobile hotspot or via an alternative connection (WiFi/wired)
– We will update this thread when we receive new information on the status of this issue. Thank you for your patience. (Source)
Update 4 (January 7)
5:21 p.m. (IST): Responding to a player’s query regarding the community files not downloading error, EA Help said they are currently working on it. However, no ETA has been provided as to when it will be fixed.
Update 4 (January 10)
4:18 p.m. (IST): A community manager who recognized this problem said that this issue with the community files error doesn’t seem to be fixed any time soon. But the team will update on this issue as soon as possible.
Update 5 (January 11)
10:51 a.m. (IST): A community manager on the EA forums updated the status and said he now has enough information he needs to fix this bug.
Additionally, he stated that the issue will be resolved in the near future, but did not provide any expected arrival time for a fix.

Update 6 (January 12)
11:10 a.m. (IST): Someone who is annoyed by the Madden 22 community file error has filed a petition for EA to fix the problem.
However, this is highly unlikely to allow EA to fix this issue any faster. But still, it might be worth signing up anyway.
Update 7 (January 13)
12:45 p.m. (IST): In response to a user’s complaint, an EA community manager claimed that contacting an EA advisor over the phone would do little to resolve the issue.
They also claimed that there is still no ETA for the patch.
If you would like to speak to an EA Advisor over the phone, please create a case on our Help.EA.com support site. However, this cannot be solved by an advisor. The workaround steps I’ve provided have helped some players in the past, but unfortunately it’s not guaranteed. We have reported this issue to the team and they are following it up for a fix. No exact date has been confirmed on a patch. (Source)
Update 8 (January 14)
4:45 p.m. (IST): Many users tried to fix the issue by performing various troubleshooting steps. Unfortunately, there is no workaround for the problem as the problem is on EA’s side as one individual pointed out.
It’s not you, it’s them. They have to turn it back on, I mean fix it. (Source)

Update 9 (January 15)
2:31 p.m. (IST): There’s still no good news for Madden 22 players as a community manager has confirmed that the issue hasn’t been fixed via the latest title update.
