In a Twitter response from Chandler Wood, a community manager for the upcoming Wizarding World title run by Avalanche Software Hogwarts Legacy, GoNintendo has received further confirmation that the game is indeed slated for release on Nintendo Switch. The tweet in question can be seen below:

The confirmation comes after fans noticed the console was added to the list of platforms in the game’s official FAQ section with the Switch logo posted on the website. Along with this, an Amazon listing for the title was found offering physical pre-orders for the title. Having Community Manager confirmation on the game locks the Switch version as 100% official.

Hogwarts Legacyas described on the game’s official FAQ page, is “…an immersive, open-world action role-playing game set in the wizarding world of the 1800s that puts players at the center of their own adventure.”

In the game, players will take on the role of a student new to the titular school of witchcraft and wizardry. Rather than entering school as a freshman, however, players will be starting their fifth year. Given your late admission, you will have some catching up to do to reach the level of skill expected of a wizard or witch your age.

The focus is on player customization in the game. From your hair, to your eyes, to your skin tone and many other factors, your character avatar will be able to represent the person you want to play as in the game. There are also a variety of clothing options that can be found or purchased to further change up your look. A variety of other magical equipment will also be available, allowing for a large amount of combinations.

The game takes place in an open world that players will be free to explore and discover. As new skills and abilities are learned, you will be able to visit new areas, dungeons, and more. As your school year progresses, the world will be affected by seasons and weather effects, making the world even more dynamic. In the open world is the centerpiece of the game, Hogwarts Castle. For the first time ever, the entire castle has been fully realized and will be fully explorable throughout the game. Never-before-seen areas such as Hufflepuff’s common room will be discovered alongside familiar places such as the Great Hall .

Hogwarts Legacy gameplay received an extended 15-minute showcase Thursday during PlayStation’s State of Play event, pictured above. The showcase featured a variety of different mechanics and systems, including character creation, potion brewing, combat, and more. According to the gameplay preview, the experience will see you attending a variety of classes as a student, including Charms, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Herbology, and Potions. These classes will teach you how to cast new spells, defend yourself in combat, craft useful items to aid you, and more. By attending classes, you will learn new skills that you can use outside of your classes.

One of the main aspects announced in the latest reveal is the battle of Hogwarts Legacy. As you learn in your classes, your new abilities will help you defeat enemies. Whether it’s more powerful and versatile spells, potions to enhance your abilities, or magical plants to change the tide of battle, everything you learn will be a boon to your adventure in the magical world. Spells can work together to create interesting combinations and can exploit your enemies’ weaknesses if used correctly.

Hogwarts Legacy also hosts a variety of systems outside of combat, including puzzles, skill trees, broom flying, care of magical creatures, magic farming, quests, and more. All of these systems come together to give the player an experience where they can choose what they want to focus on and create a character of their own. Skills can be upgraded depending on which aspects you want to participate in, which means your gameplay will vary depending on your choices. It’s confirmed that there are multiple paths to take, including choices involving the use of dark magic like Avada Kedavra, the series’ infamous killing curse.

The latest information for Hogwarts Legacy also emphasizes one feature in particular – the Room of Requirement. Fans of the series might recognize this name, as it appears in both the books and the film franchise. In this game, however, the Room of Requirement will serve as your own space within Hogwarts castle itself. This is where you can brew potions, grow plants, tame magical creatures, and more. He will play an important role in your journey to catch up with your magical classmates given your late arrival. The room will be customizable to suit your needs and upgrades will be available to better match your skills and interests. The preview even showed a fully customizable area, complete with a little cottage, pets, and more.
