Halo 4 was released almost a decade ago on Xbox 360. It marked the start of a new trilogy, which Microsoft has aptly named the “Reclaimer Trilogy”. It was the first main line Halo game not developed by Bungie, as the franchise moved to a new developer, 343 Industries.

Servers for several classics Halo games on Xbox 360 were shut down yesterday January 13th. It affected Halo 3, Halo Wars, Halo 3: ODST, Halo: scope, Halo Anniversary: Combat Evolved, Halo 4, and Halo: Spartan Assault to varying degrees. Just before the matchmaking servers went offline, a fan reached out to the community, hoping to unlock their last remaining achievement in Halo 4.

The Vengeful’ user Vadam on Twitter was only missing one achievement from Halo 4 on Xbox 360. An image showed Vadam earning 85 out of 86 achievements, with “Protect This House” for 30 Gamerscore being the only one remaining. It required players to assassinate the ball carrier within 5 yards of their own goal in a Ricochet game. Vadam reached out to the community via a Tweet, and many people agreed to lend their support.

In a follow-up tweet, Vadam posted a video showing the achievement unlocking and getting the max Gamerscore for Halo 4. It was the user known as Defensife343 who was the victim of this assassination. Vadam also posted a photo showing that they have unlocked all the achievements of Halo 3 as good as Halo: scope. Halo 4 is perhaps the most special of them because of this event.

Earn all 86 achievements in Halo 4 is no small feat. While it is extremely difficult to complete the single-player campaign on Legendary difficulty, some achievements require players to complete mission-specific actions on Heroic difficulty or harder. Achievements for Halo 4Multiplayer DLC’s are notorious for being boring. Some involve things beyond the players’ control, while others often force them to play a certain way. For example, “In Crimson DLC matchmaking, get a mid-air kill in a Warthog” is the description for “Now they Fly?” realization.

Many people grew up with Halo multiplayer on Xbox 360, and it’s heartwarming to see the community come together to help Vadam achieve this latest achievement. While it’s disappointing to see servers go offline for these classic titles, fans can still play multiplayer in a variety of Halo games with relative ease. The servers of The Master Chief Collection are online and are unlikely to be closed anytime soon.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection is available now on PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X.
