GameStop will sell the PS5 in stores on April 2, but only for Pro members

If you’re having trouble finding a PlayStation 5 online, GameStop plans to sell the console in stores across the United States on April 2.

However, the retailer only makes the sales available to members of GameStop’s benefits program, PowerUp Rewards Pro, which costs $14.99 per year. The other caveat is that the PS5 units will come in a pricey $740 bundle. The package will include:

  • A PlayStation 5 Disc Edition

  • Horizon Forbidden West and Gran Turismo 7 games

  • A DualSense controller with a charging station Where a wireless headset with a $25 gift card

A GameStop employee told PCMag that his own store has a limited but sufficient supply of PS5 bundles ready to go on sale tomorrow. The product will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis when GameStop outlets open Saturday morning.

Find out which slots will carry the PS5 on GameStop’s website. It looks like dozens of stores in every US state, including Alaska and Hawaii, will be selling the bundles.

It’s certainly annoying that GameStop continues to sell the PS5 behind a membership paywall and in expensive bundles. But for now, the console continues to face massive demand. On Wednesday, Amazon hosted a restock for the PS5 Digital Edition. However, the retailer immediately sold out amid increased consumer traffic and possibly bots.

In-store sales at GameStop could make it easier for some consumers to get a PS5. But they’ll have to pay and probably get up early to catch the console on Saturday morning. For more tips on rating a PS5, check out our guide.

If you’re looking for an Xbox Series X, there’s good news: Amazon and Walmart continue to have the console in stock at normal prices, though Amazon is prioritizing Prime members.
